NOU is designed to be affordable for Haitian small businesses. Here's a transparent breakdown of how fees and payments work on the platform.
Platform Fees
NOU charges zero setup fees and zero monthly subscription fees for sellers. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for small businesses in Haiti to sell online.
A small transaction fee is applied to each completed sale to cover the cost of operating the platform, maintaining security, and providing customer support.
Payment Processing Fees
Payment processing fees vary depending on the method chosen by the buyer. These fees are charged by the payment providers (not NOU) and are standard across the industry.
- Stripe (credit/debit cards): Standard Stripe processing fees apply
- MonCash (mobile money): MonCash transaction fees apply
- PayPal: Standard PayPal merchant fees apply
- Bank Transfer: No additional processing fees
- Cash on Delivery: No processing fees — payment collected at delivery
Currency & Conversion
NOU supports two currencies: US Dollars (USD) and Haitian Gourdes (HTG). Sellers can list products in either currency, and buyers can browse in their preferred currency.
When a buyer pays with Stripe in a currency different from the listing currency, conversion is applied automatically at a rate of 1 USD = 135 HTG. This rate is fixed for simplicity and transparency.
Accessing Invoices
Order receipts and invoice details are available in your account under 'My Orders'. Each order displays a summary of items purchased, amounts charged, and payment method used.
Sellers can view detailed sales reports and order histories from the seller dashboard, including breakdowns by payment method and time period.
Seller Payouts
Seller payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. Once a buyer completes a purchase with a card payment, funds are transferred to the seller's connected Stripe account according to Stripe's standard payout schedule.
For other payment methods (MonCash, bank transfer, cash on delivery), settlement varies by method and may involve manual verification.
